Summary report of Scientific and Organizing Committees

V. Pelykh, B. Ptashnyk

10th International Skorobohatko Mathematical Conference had been held in August 25–28, 2015 in Drohobych in Ivan Franko Pedagogical University

This conference continued a cycle of nine previous conferences, originally initiated in 1987 by Professor Vitaliy Skorobohatko and academician Anatoliy Dorodnitsyn under the title “New approaches to solving differential equations”.

Participators of sixth conference from this cycle, which took place in October 1-5, 2001, passed a resolution about naming of conference as “International Skorobohatko Mathematical Conference” in honor of known ukrainian mathematician, Doctor of Science, professor Vitaliy Skorobohatko, who created a great mathematical school with wide range of original scientific researches in Lviv, and permanently took care about development of mathematics in Ukraine.

The Conference was organized by Pidstryhach Institute for Applied Problems in Mechanics and Mathematics, NAS of Ukraine; Institute of Mathematics, NAS of Ukraine; Taras Shevchenko National University, Kyiv; Ivan Franko National University, Lviv; National University "Lvivska Politechnika"; Ivan Franko Pedagogical University, Drohobych.

Scientific and Organizing Committees directed the preparation and organization of conference:

The program and brief outline reports were published in English before the beginning of conference. 174 reports of 250 scientists from ten countries (Austria – 1, Belarus’ – 5, Great Britain – 1, Armenia – 1, Kazakhstan – 1, China – 1, Germany – 2, Poland – 10, Russian Federation – 1, Ukraine – 227) are represented in book of abstracts. Among authors of theses – 69 Doctors of science, and 120 PhD.

117 reports, represented by abstracts, were proclaimed on conference, 10 among these were the plenary ones. Except this, 5 additional plenary reports were proclaimed: Mykhaylo Zarichnyi “On the beginning of topology in L viv” ; Valeriy Samoylenko, Yuliya Samoylenko “Asymptotic soliton like solutions of singular perturbed Korteweg-de Vries equation with variable coefficients”; Yaroslav Prytula “Stefan Banach AND Lviv mathematical school”; Oleh Petruk “Yuriy Drohobych and ancient astronomy in Galicia”; Bohdan Ptashnyk “Life and work of Professor Mykola Chaykovskyi”

In reports, presented on plenary and section meetings, there were discussed the problems of ordinary differential equations and integral equations investigations, functional analysis and theory of functions for real and complex variables, number theory and numerical mathematics, their application in mathematical, theoretical physics and mechanics, and also historical aspects of mathematics and astronomy progress in Galicia.

All reports on conference reflected current state of investigations in respective scientific directions.

Carrying out the conference contributed to coordination of scientific investigations in mathematics and its applications both in Ukraine and on an international scale, development of new scientific contacts, open information exchange about many actual problems in current mathematics, theoretical physics and mechanics.

In general opinion of the conference participators the conference was successful.
