Born on August 27, 1954, in the village of Chyshky near Lviv, close to the picturesque town of Vynnyky. After graduating from Chyshky Secondary School, from 1971 to 1976 he studied at the Faculty of Automation of Lviv Polytechnic, majoring in Applied Mathematics.
In 1976, after obtaining the qualification of engineer-mathematician, he was assigned to work at the Computing Center of the Lviv Branch of Mathematical Physics of the Institute of Mathematics of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (since 1992 — the Center for Mathematical Modeling of the Pidstryhach Institute for Applied Problems of Mechanics and Mathematics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine). He worked in various engineering and research positions; from 1990 to 1995 he headed the Department of Informatics and Computational Methods. Subsequently, he served as Senior Researcher, from 2009 as Leading Researcher, and since June 2019 as Head of the Department of Mathematical Modeling of Nonequilibrium Processes. Since 2022, following the liquidation of the Center for Mathematical Modeling, he has been Head of the Laboratory of Mathematical Modeling of Nonequilibrium Processes at the Pidstryhach Institute for Applied Problems of Mechanics and Mathematics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. In addition, he is a part-time Professor at the Department of Computer Technologies in Publishing and Printing Processes at Lviv Polytechnic National University.
Since 1987, he has held the degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences (PhD equivalent) in specialty 05.13.11 — Mathematical and Software Support of Computing Machines and Systems; since 2009, Doctor of Technical Sciences in specialty 01.05.02 — Mathematical Modeling and Computational Methods. He was awarded the academic title of Senior Research Fellow in 2000 and Professor in 2011.

He is currently a member of two specialized academic councils for the defense of doctoral and candidate dissertations, a member of program committees of several international scientific and practical conferences, and a member of the editorial boards of three peer-reviewed scientific journals. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of the scientific collection Computer Technologies of Printing, published by Lviv Polytechnic National University.
He is the author of 189 scientific publications, including 2 monographs, 1 textbook, and 3 teaching manuals, as well as 6 inventor’s certificates.
