Savenko Petro Oleksandrovych

Leading Scientist, D.Sc.,

Professor

After graduating from Lviv State University in 1970, P. A .Savenko is employed in the system of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, firstly at the Institute of Physics and Mechanics, and since 1973 at the Lviv branch of Mathematical Physics of the Institute of Mathematics (LFMF IM USSR), where contributed to formation and development of the Computing Center LFMF IM Academy of Sciences of the USSR. From 1975 to 1991, he is employed by the Computing Center of the LFMF of the USSR Academy of Sciences (from October 1978 to 1991 - the Computing Center of the Institute of Applied Problems of Mechanics and Mathematics) as the head of the Department and director of this Center.

Since 1992, he started with position of senior scientist, later head of laboratory, and leading scientist of Department of Numerical Methods in Mathematical Physics at the Pidstryhach Institute for Applied Problems of Mechanics and Mathematics, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

Graduated: Ivan Franko Lviv State University (M.Sc. in Computational Mathematics, 1970).

Science Degree:

Ph.D. (Candidate of Physico-mathematical Sciences - 1987 , Ph.D. thesis "The Synthesis of Radiation Systems according to the Amplitude Radiation Pattern and Related Problems of Quasioptics" - 01.04.03 - Radiophysics including Quantum one, Institute of Radiotechnique and Electronics of Academy of Sciences of USSR, Moscow, Russia).

Doctor of Sciences (01.05.02 - mathematical modeling and computational methods, 2005, D.Sc. thesis "Mathematical models, Numerical-analytical and Numerical Methods in the Nonlinear Teory of Radiating Systems" - 01.05.02 - Mathematical modeling and Computational Methods, Lviv Polytechnic National University, Lviv, Ukraine).

Scientific Degree: Professor (2013).

Work position: Leading Scientist of Department of Numerical Methods in Mathematical Physics.

Area of Scientific Research:
- Development of mathematical models, numerical-analytical methods and software for solving nonlinear inverse problems of mathematical physics related to optimal design of different types of radiating systems.
- Development of numerical methods for solving multiparameter nonlinear spectral problems that arise i the theory of nonuniqueness of solutions to integral and ordinary differential equations.

Main Scientific Results:

- The new numerical direction in the area of mathematical modeling and numerical optimization the different types of radiating systems on the incomplete input data is developed. Basic of this method is variational statements of nonlinear synthesis problems, investigation of existence and structure of solutions and their qualitative properties by the methods of functional analysis, search of different types of existing solutions by the numerical methods.
- Variational approach for solvinfg of vector nonlinear spectral problem.
- Numerical methods for search of the connected components of spectrum of holomorphic vector-functions with nonlinear spectral parameters.

Prof. Savenko is responsible executor and scientific head of series of research projects at the IAPMM.

Prof. Savenko published his results in more than 200 papers, including five monographs.
